2021.12.05 12:12 ACarByAnyOtherName_ Opinions on Proctorio
I am a graduate student looking to collect opinions on Proctorio. With mod permission, I am asking for these opinions via this quick google form survey. Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSepKROdSvIvVgDX_23HKRhs95uysRPzjqc2IE3GqbrqgVN4-Q/viewform?usp=sf_link
Essentially, I am in a User Research course and my final project consists of me collecting real data from users about a topic of my choice. I have decided to collect opinions about Proctorio given its increased usage over the pandemic and growing concerns about privacy, accessibility, and curtailing academic dishonesty.
I want to be clear that this information is NOT going to be used beyond the scope of my final project, in which I present the findings to my professor. Neither the professor nor I are associated with Proctorio. I am just a graduate student.
Overall, I ask whether the survey-taker is answering as a student, instructor, or parent; I ask for some opinions about Proctorio; and then I ask two basic (NON-REQUIRED) demographic questions – one about whether you consider yourself to be a traditional student/faculty member, and one asks for age.
Thank you so much for considering.

2021.12.05 12:12 verynestea Had a bot in my last game
The sven was very clearly a bot, if you just look at his landing stage you'll see some weird stuff (I was the veno). Guessing they are farming hours to unlock ranked.
I reported him but considering he was already at profile lvl 25 reporting probably doesn't do much so perhaps someone from valve will see it here.
Although it was clear he was a bot I would like to give a shout out to the people that created this cos it was still 10x better then valave's bots lol.

2021.12.05 12:12 Frexulfe You lose if you do this:
Don´t die. Diying is the ultimate lost. Every other thing is better.
Think about this. We all know we are going to die, but we don´t believe it. It can happen to you.
#1 Japan. Overweight Japanese, doing lots of overtime at a small tech company. He had a severe apnea problem. He died in sleep.
The mother called at work APOLOGIZING for his son dying.
The working place was shocked. After some 15-20 minutes, when the shock settled, the obvious question came:
"Who will do his work?"
#2 Small company, with HUGE turnover and very good salaries, but extreme toxic environment. 47 year old guy. I knew him well, and it was a good guy. Earning quite a lot, but not as much as the manager HE TRAINED, that would earn 5 times more for doing everything wrong and working a lot less. He was bitter and overworked. He smoked heavily. One day, after having some health issues, he went checking. He had bone cancer, kidney cancer, lung cancer, cancer in the heart ... He had one month to live. He closed himself in his house and refused to speak with anybody. He died 3 weeks later. Colleagues were shocked. Bosses ... "who will do his work?"
#3 Same company as above. The biggest sales guy, was making half a million per year. 400 pounds weight, at all times angry, alcohol problems, diabetis, etc. He was quite an asshole, nevertheless a victim of the system. He had enough money set aside, but he just couldn´t stop working. He was earning too good. This year he died "after a long sickness". He knew three years ago that he was on the highway to the coffin. He spoke about this to another colleague (the brother of the above, btw). He couldn´t stop. Everybody, even the bosses, were relieved he died. He would even bully the bosses. Nobody misses him. For what did you die? It makes me sad to think about him, even if he was an asshole
#4 Myself. Long time ago, working for myself. Had to transport some stuff. For reasons, I drove 32 hours without sleeping. I woke up seconds before hitting a tree. Not worth it. I pulled over and slept.
Dying is not worth it. Never. And you, the one reading this, may be doing that without realizing it, thingking "this is just a phase, next year it will be better".
Don´t die. If you are overworked, if you feel depressed, close your eyes, take a deep deep breath, and take a look at you and at your life from above. There are ways out. Always.
All my love to you, workers around the world. Take care of yourselfs.

2021.12.05 12:12 half_of_pi Does artix have the same hardware compatibility as arch?
Pretty much the title. I’m planning to install artix on an asus rog zephyrus g14 laptop. There’s a kernel patch (linux-g14) that’s supposed to work on asus laptops out of the box, and I’ve found a guide on how to make arch work on this machine. Can I just follow it to install artix? Is everything going to work the same without systemd? (Sorry if this is a dumb question)

2021.12.05 12:12 AllureDreams1998 Bitcoin Node - My Rules
Bottom Line Up Front: How do I choose which rules I want to abide by? (i.e. if there is a fork, how do I decide which way I want to move forward?)
We have all heard about the saying "not your keys, not your crypto"; however, I am curious about "not your node, not your rules". For my node, I run the UmbreI software/platform, I have a 8GB Raspberry Pi with a 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD), and I just reached 100% synchronization with the blockchain to help support and further decentralize the network.
In a world where anyone can decide to simply copy the computer code and create a new fork, how do I decide if I want to accept/agree to the new rules. For instance, most people know here that there is a current hard cap of 21 million BTC on the "real" chain (i.e. the most accepted chain). However, if someone wanted to change the rules and have a hard cap of 22 million BTC on their version, how do I choose if I want to stay with the "old" chain (i.e. 21 million BTC) versus the "new" chain (i.e. 22 million BTC).?
To be clear, I am not here to discuss why I would want 22 million BTC over the "original" 21 million BTC. This about the concept of agreeing to new rules and the example above was used to demonstrate my thoughts. So, in future Bitcoin Improvement Protocols (BIP), how do I choose which version I want? How do I even know I have the version that I want right now (i.e. I want the fork with TapRoot, 21 million BTC, etc)? Is this done via Umbrel software?
